Best Concert Of My Life (so far): A Marysville/Sacramento Review By Jocelyn

It's kinda long... and it's just my experience at the Backstreet Boys concert in Sacramento

Well I went to the Concord, Ca Backstreet Boys show last night and I was kinda bummed because of the power outage. My mindset was to not be too excited about Marysville at all.

I get to the venue at around 3:30 PM and there was a handful of fans around and a lot of familiar faces. When 4:00 PM rolls around the soundcheck winners from the fan club and radio station start lining up. In my mind I really wanted to get in, so I migrate towards that line and I heard that if you had your Concord ticket from last night, you could get into the soundcheck!

I was sooooo happy and whipped out my ticket and got a soundcheck wristband. I feel so spoiled because I've been to THREE soundchecks

While I was waiting in line to get in for the soundcheck I was thinking "damn it, I need to ask a question." The other 2 times I went to the soundchecks, that Dave guy (I think that's his name) never reached my area.

When the Q & A session arrives, I raise my hand and sorta jump but nothing so I try to keep an eye out for the Dave guy. I tell my cousin to hold my spot in the front by the stage to look for the Dave guy and out of nowhere he's in front of me I told him "I have a question." and he acted like I didn't have a question but a comment (like the look on his face was like this chick has a lame question.)

So he holds the mic up to my mouth and I go "Hi, my name is Jocelyn and I just wanted to ask if you guys were going to do any more things for the fan club like any more Nick's corner's or chats."

Nick asks "How many are up now? Two?"

Then I hold up 3 fingers and go "No three."

And some other girls chimed in saying the 3rd one was the Backstreet On Ice and then the Stuck in Traffic one. Then I hear AJ start singing some of Stuck in Traffic.

Then Brian says "The day after tomorrow, I'll be having a chat." I dunno how true that is but we'll see if there is an announcement of Brian having a chat.

Howie then asks, "Have you all seen Howie's Hot Spots?"

And then the other boys go "Have you seen Kevin's dirty socks?" LoL

I forget who asked but one of them said, "Have you seen Kevin's hot pockets?" LoL

Then I asked Nick, "When can we expect another Nick's Corner?"

He said "I don't know."

Then I asked him, "Can you give any previews or hints of what's going to happen in the next Nick's corner?"

He just shook his head no.

While the boys were answering my question, I glanced over at Dave and he was smiling and loving how the boys were answering my question and I was thinking 'ha I asked good question.'

Then Dave moves away from me and says "Well that's all the questions we have time for."

I was so relieved that I got to ask a question and be the last one.

Now before the concert, I was walking to the venue from my car and then I decide to go back to my car. I wanted to make a little sign. I went to my car and found some scratch paper and with a sharpie I tried to think of something to put on the sign.

Then I come up with "NICK CAN YOU GIVE ME A GUITAR PICK PLEASE =)" I just decided to make just in case I got courage.

So I get to my seat and according to the ticket I have 3rd row BUT when I got to my seat I had 2nd row!!! I was soooo thrilled and the place where I was sitting is the area Nick was for Climbing the walls.

I decided to hold my sign up during Climbing The Walls since I know Nick plays the guitar during that song.

So when CTW comes on I hold onto my sign. I was so afraid to hold it up. I first held it up for 1 second and put it down cause I got scared. As the seconds passed I got more courageous so I held it up longer. I figured, it was now or never and I didn't want to regret anything.

While Howie was singing his verse in CTW and Nick was next to him playing the guitar, I held it up long and I could see Howie's eyes scanning my sign and I see Nick scanning my sign.

When the song is at the end I hold up my sign and I see Nick looking at my sign and holding the guitar pick. (Side note: according to my cousin, she said Nick mouthed "Do you want it?" to me which I didn't catch) I just nodded my head at him and had this pleading look in my eyes.

Then he tossed the guitar pick and it was like slow motion. I stared at it mid air and I was like omg let me catch this. I reach out my hand and it beautifully falls into my palm and I like mouth "thank you!" to Nick which I don't know if he saw that or not.

It was like a force that helped push that guitar pick into my palm.

Well that's really all I can think of to type for now.

The Marysville concert was a beautiful ending to my Backstreet Concerts for now, especially after the chaos at Concord. I seriously wish I could go to more concerts but I have no time and money. I hope the boys do a second leg because this tour has just made me so happy.
